Ziyad moved his numerically superior infantry forward,

حرّك (زياد) مشاته –المتفوقة عددياً- إلي الأمام

By modern scholars, Ziyad commanded up to 40,000 troops.

قاد (زياد) نحو 40 ألف جندي

Ziyad responded, and a brief exchange of projectiles followed.

تجاوب (زياد) مع ذلك، وتلي ذلك تراشق قصير بالسهام

Ziyad immediately sent his heavy and light cavalry divisions forward

قام (زياد) فوراً بإرسال وحدات خيالته الثقيلة والخفيفة إلي الأمام

Then, on the fifth day of the battle, Ziyad knew he was ready!

ثم..وفي اليوم الخامس من المعركة، عرف (زياد)أنه الآن مستعد

“Now is the time!”, Ziyad cried out, signalling the Karluk mercenaries to attack!

"الآن حان الوقت". صرخ (زياد) مشيراً لمرتزقة القارلوق بالهجوم

Ziyad urged his men on, not wanting to allow the enemy to escape.

حثّ (زياد) جنوده علي عدم السماح للعدو بالهرب

As they approached Samarkand, Ziyad ibn Salih, a former Umayyad governor of Kuffa,

وبينما يقتربون من (سمرقند)، انضم (زياد بن صالح) –الحاكم الأموي السابق للكوفة-

But… perhaps unbeknownst to Gao, prior to the battle Ziyad had established contact with

ولكن –وربما بشكل غير معلوم ل(جاو)- تمكن (زياد) قبل المعركة من الاتصال بوحدة عسكرية

And that Ziyad managed to launch a surprise attack on the last day of the battle.
