Rut, la moabita dijo a Noemí: "Déjame ir al campo a espigar detrás de aquél a cuyos ojos encuentre favor".

Ruth the Moabite said to Naomi, "Let me now go to the field, and glean among the ears of grain after him in whose sight I find favor."

They lifted up their voices and wept again; then Orpah kissed her mother-in-law, but Ruth stayed with her. She said, "Behold, your sister-in-law has gone back to her people and to her god. Follow your sister-in-law."

"Y de que adquiero también a Rut la moabita, la que fue mujer de Quilión, para que sea mi mujer a fin de perpetuar el nombre del difunto en su heredad y que el nombre del difunto no sea borrido entre sus hermanos y en la puerta de su localidad. Vosotros sois hoy testigos."

Booz dijo a Rut: "¿Me oyes, hija mía? No vayas a espigar a otro campo ni te alejes de aquí; quédate junto a mis criadas. Fíjate en la parcela que siegan y vete detrás de ellas. ¿No he mandado a mis criados que no te molesten? Si tienes sed vete a las vasijas y bebe de lo que saquen del pozo los criados."

Then Boaz said to Ruth, "Listen, my daughter. Don’t go to glean in another field, and don’t go from here, but stay here close to my maidens. Let your eyes be on the field that they reap, and go after them. Haven't I commanded the young men not to touch you? When you are thirsty, go to the vessels, and drink from that which the young men have drawn."

Pero Rut respondió: "No insistas en que te abandone y me separe de ti, porque adonde tú vayas, iré yo, donde tú vivas, viviré yo. Tu pueblo será mi pueblo y tu Dios será mi Dios. Donde tú mueras moriré yo y allí seré enterrada. Que Yahvé me dé este mal y añada este otro todavía si no es tan sólo la muerte lo que nos ha de separar."

Ruth said, "Don't urge me to leave you, and to return from following you, for where you go, I will go; and where you stay, I will stay. Your people will be my people, and your God my God. Where you die, I will die, and there I will be buried. May God do so to me, and more also, if anything but death parts you and me."
