Hípanis perece e também Dimas, / varados pelos próprios companheiros; / e quanto a ti, ó Panto, nem sequer / a tua condição de sacerdote, / nem as fitas de Apolo, que trazias / na testa, preservaram-te da morte.

Then Dymas brave / and Hypanis by comrades' hands are slain. / Nor, Panthus, thee thy piety can save, / nor e'en Apollo's wreath preserve thee from the grave.

As palavras de Panto e a vontade dos deuses / de encontro às chamas e aos combates me arremessam: / da Erínia vingadora aos chamados atendo, / no retinir das armas, no alarido / do tumulto que até no céu ressoa.
