Egy anekdota szerint egy magyar ornitológus előadást tartott az NDK-ban, amihez tolmácsnak egy ott tanuló magyar diákot kértek fel. Elkezdődött az előadás, bemutatták az első képet. A szöveg a következő volt hozzá: „Ez a kettős tollsorú, felmereszthető és hátrakonyítható bóbitájú, üldögélő lábú búbos- vagy büdösbanka.” A magyarázatot néma csend követte, majd hosszú, kínos percek után megszólalt a tolmács: „Vogel!” (madár).

According to an anecdote, a Hungarian ornithologist was invited to give a lecture on his field in East Germany, and a Hungarian student who studied there was asked to interpret.
