‫كانت الهجمة خاطفة حتى إن ‫نرسي وجنوده لم يسطيعوا الرد عليها

Such was the speed of the attack that even  Narseh and his personal guards failed to react.  

‫أما نخبة المقاتلين الساسانيين فقد اصطفّوا ‫على جناح السرعة لحماية مسكن نرسي

Elite Sasanian troops stood fast,  protecting Narseh’s compound,  

‫كما حازت كلّ من روما وأرمينيا ‫مناطق شاسعة كانت تحت حكم نرسي

Large expanses of territory were  ceded by Narseh to Rome and Armenia,  

‫فمنع بذلك نرسي من دخول الشام موفّرا ‫الوقت الكافي لوصول ديوكلتيانوس مع جيشه

preventing Narseh from entering Syria, just in  time for Diocletian to arrive with an army .  

‫قاد قيصر جيشا صغيرا في اتّجاه بلاد ‫الرافدين الكبرى بعد أن فاجأه هجوم نرسي

Faced with Narseh’s surprise invasion, the  Caesar led a small army to Upper Mesopotamia
