And they said: The God of the Hebrews hath called us, to go three days' journey into the wilderness, and to sacrifice to the Lord our God; lest a pestilence or the sword fall upon us.

Then Moses and the children of Israel sung this canticle to the Lord, and said: Let us sing to the Lord: for he is gloriously magnified, the horse and the rider he hath thrown into the sea.

Moses said to God: Lo, I shall go to the children of Israel, and say to them: The God of your fathers hath sent me to you. If they shall say to me: What is his name? What shall I say to them?

Contestó Moisés a Dios: "Si voy a los israelitas y les digo: 'El Dios de vuestros padres me ha enviado a vosotros'; y ellos me preguntan: '¿Cuál es su nombre?', ¿qué les responderé?"

And when the children of Israel saw it, they said one to another: Manhu! which signifieth: What is this! for they knew not what it was. And Moses said to them: This is the bread which the Lord hath given you to eat.

Al verla los israelitas, se decían unos a otros: "¿Qué es esto?" Pues no sabían lo que era. Moisés les dijo: "Éste es el pan que Yahvé os da de comer."

And Moses said to the people: Remember this day in which you came forth out of Egypt, and out of the house of bondage, for with a strong hand hath the Lord brought you forth out of this place: that you eat no leavened bread.

Y Moisés dijo al pueblo: Recuerda este día en que salisteis de Egipto, de la esclavitud, pues con mano fuerte os sacó Yahvé de aquí; y no comáis pan fermentado.

And it shall be as a sign in thy hand, and as a memorial before thy eyes; and that the law of the Lord be always in thy mouth, for with a strong hand the Lord hath brought thee out of the land of Egypt.

Y será para ti como señal en tu brazo y como recordatorio en tu frente, para que tengas en tu boca la ley de Yahvé, porque con mano fuerte te sacó Yahvé de Egipto.

This is the word that the Lord hath commanded: Let every one gather of it as much as is enough to eat; a gomor for every man, according to the number of your souls that dwell in a tent, so shall you take of it.

Esto es lo que manda Yahvé: Que cada uno recoja cuanto necesite para comer, un ómer por cabeza, según el número de personas que vivan en su tienda.

And Moses returned to the Lord, and said: Lord, why hast thou afflicted this people? wherefore hast thou sent me? For since the time that I went in to Pharaoh to speak in thy name, he hath afflicted thy people: and thou hast not delivered them.

Entonces Moisés se volvió a Yahvé y le dijo: "Señor, ¿por qué maltratas a este pueblo?, ¿por qué me has enviado? Desde que fui al faraón para hablarle en tu nombre está maltratando a este pueblo, y tú no haces nada por librarlo."

If any man hurt a field or a vineyard, and put in his beast to feed upon that which is other men's: he shall restore the best of whatsoever he hath in his own field, or in his vineyard, according to the estimation of the damage.

Dost thou yet hold back my people; and wilt thou not let them go? Behold I will cause it to rain to morrow at this same hour, an exceeding great hail; such as hath not been in Egypt from the day that it was founded, until this present time.

And Moses said: In the evening the Lord will give you flesh to eat, and in the morning bread to the full: for he hath heard your murmurings, with which you have murmured against him, for what are we? your murmuring is not against us, but against the Lord.

Moisés añadió: Esta tarde Yahvé os dará a comer carne y mañana pan hasta saciaros; porque Yahvé ha oído vuestras murmuraciones contra él; pues nosotros, ¿que somos? No van contra nosotros vuestras murmuraciones, sino contra Yahvé.

And Moses said: This is the word which the Lord hath commanded: Fill a gomor of it, and let it be kept unto generations to come hereafter; that they may know the bread, wherewith I fed you in the wilderness when you were brought forth out of the land of Egypt.

Moisés dijo: Esto es lo que ha mandado Yahvé: Llenad un ómer de ello y conservadlo, pra que vuestros descendientes vean el pan con que os alimenté en el desierto cuando os saqué del país de Egipto.

And the woman answered him, saying: Of the fruit of the trees that are in paradise we do eat: But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of paradise, God hath commanded us that we should not eat; and that we should not touch it, lest perhaps we die.

Respondió la mujer a la serpiente: "Podemos comer del fruto de los árboles del jardín. Mas del fruto del árbol que está en medio del jardín, ha dicho Dios: No comáis de él, ni lo toquéis, so pena de muerte."

And God said again to Moses: Thus shalt thou say to the children of Israel: The Lord God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob hath sent me to you; this is my name for ever, and this is my memorial unto all generations.

Siguió Dios diciendo a Moisés: "Así dirás a los israelitas: Yahvé, el Dios de vuestros padres, el Dios de Abrahán, el Dios de Isaac y el Dios de Jacob, me ha enviado a vosotros. Éste es mi nombre para siempre, por él seré recordado generación tras generación."

And they shall hear thy voice; and thou shalt go in, thou and the ancients of Israel, to the king of Egypt, and thou shalt say to him: The Lord God of the Hebrews hath called us; we will go three days' journey into the wilderness, to sacrifice unto the Lord our God.

And he said to them: This is what the Lord hath spoken: To morrow is the rest of the sabbath sanctified to the Lord. Whatsoever work is to be done, do it; and the meats that are to be dressed, dress them; and whatsoever shall remain, lay it up until the morning.

- But if he did this when the sun is risen, he hath committed murder, and he shall die. If he have not wherewith to make restitution for the theft, he shall be sold.
- If the sun be risen upon him, there shall be blood shed for him; for he should make full restitution; if he have nothing, then he shall be sold for his theft.

Mas si ya había salido el sol, entonces sí hay delito de sangre. El ladrón debe restituir. Si no tiene con qué, será vendido para restituir por su robo.
