Translation of "أَنْ" in English

أُرِيدُ أَنْ أَرَى الْغُرْفَةَ.

I should like to see the room.

يُريدُ أَنْ يَكونَ مَعَها

He wants to be with her.

لا يَجِبُ أَنْ تَقولَ ذلِك

You shouldn't say that.

لَمْ يَنْشَبْ وَرَقَةُ أَنْ تُوُفِّيَ وَفَتَرَ الْوَحْيُ.

But after a few days Waraqa died and the Divine Inspiration was also paused for a while.

- أريد فقط أن أساعدها.
- أرِيدُ فَقَطْ أَنْ أسَاعِدَهَا.

- I only want to help her.
- I just want to help her.

هَلْ كُنْتُمْ تَتَّهِمُونَهُ بِالْكَذِبِ قَبْلَ أَنْ يَقُولَ مَا قَالَ ؟

Have you ever accused him of telling lies before his claim ?

هَلْ يَرْتَدُّ أَحَدٌ مِنْهُمْ سَخْطَةً لِدِينِهِ بَعْدَ أَنْ يَدْخُلَ فِيهِ ؟

Does anybody amongst those who embrace his religion become displeased and renounce the religion afterwards?

- يَجِبُ أَنْ أَذْهبَ إلى الحمّامِ.
- أحتاج لاستخدام الحمام.
- أحتاج لاستخدام المرحاض.

- I have to go to the bathroom.
- I need to go to the toilet.

- عليك النوم.
- من الأفضل لك أن تنام.
- عليك أن تنام.
- يَنْبَغِيْ أَنْ تَنَام.

You should sleep.

إِنِّي لَأُعْطِي الرَّجُلَ وَغَيْرُهُ أَحَبُّ إِلَيَّ مِنْهُ خَشْيَةَ أَنْ يَكُبَّهُ اللَّهُ فِي النَّارِ.

I give to a person while another is dearer to me, for fear that he might be thrown on his face in the Fire by Allah.

قالَ: أَعتَقِدُ أَنَّ اْلكَمَالَ قَبِيحٌ. فِي مَكَانٍ مَا فِي اْلأَشْياءِ الَّتِي يَجْعَلُونَ اْلأَشْخَاصُ أُريدُ أَنْ أَرَى نُدُوباً وَاْلفَشَلَ وَاْلفَوضَى وَاْلتَّحرِيفَ.

"I think perfection is ugly", he said. "Somewhere in the things that humans make, I want to see scars, failure, disorder, distortion."
