💥 Some lifters take over-the-counter pain medications after workouts to try to reduce muscle soreness after intense sessions. This may not be the best idea, however, as studies show that pain medications can significantly inhibit the protein synthesis response to damaging exercise. In addition, other studies have found pain medications to significantly impair satellite cell recruitment. If you’re trying to maximize gains, avoiding OTC pain-killers is a smart choice as long term use would more than likely impair gains. However, occasional use is probably fine, just don’t make it a habit.
